Candy Crush Firm Slumps In Market Debut

Candy crush saga cheats - The British creator of the popular mobile game Candy Crush Saga has been given the cold shoulder as it made its public trading debut on Wall Street.

The stock price for King Digital Entertainment plc dropped 15.6% on its first day of trading, ending the session at $19 (£11.46).

The slump gives King a market value of $5.98bn (£3.6bn) – well below the estimate of $7.1bn (£4.2bn) that was made hours before its debut on the New York Stock Exchange.

The initial public offering (IPO) valued the shares at $22.50 (£13.60), but they opened at $20.50, down almost 9%.

The company raised $500m (£302m) in its IPO to help fund future development and expansion.

King has become hugely profitable based on the success of three games – Candy Crush Saga, Pet Rescue Saga and Farm Heroes Saga – even though it has 180 titles in total.

The company has more than 324 million monthly unique users and operates a website with 14 languages.

However, many investors have been wary of games firms with a limited range of products.

They cite the demise of Zynga – a one-time market leader on Facebook with its Farmville game – as an example to avoid.

King has offices in Stockholm and London, and games studios in several European cities.

It was founded in London originally as Midasplayer Ltd in 2003 before King Digital was registered in Dublin last July, to assist in inter-country transfer pricing, and “intended to provide us worldwide tax efficiencies”.

Midasplayer directors include Swedes Sebastian Knutsson 45, and Lars Markgren, 50, and Italian CEO Riccardo Zacconi, 46.

Its website, through which players can buy “freemium” game tokens, is domiciled in Malta.

In January, it posted a blog explaining its reasons to buy the EU trademark for the word “candy” and application for the US equivalent.

It said the reason was to protect its intellectual property (IP) and thwart competitors trading on its name.

In its February US IPO listing document, King warned potential investors that unauthorised distribution or piracy, particularly in Asia, might harm its revenue and entail costly litigation to protect its IP. For tips and tricks check out this link – Candy crush tips, tricks and video tutorials.

Business News – Wal-Mart results hit by tough markets as Asda sales growth slows

business opportunities – The world’s biggest retailer, Wal-Mart, which owns the UK chain Asda, has reported higher quarterly profits in the second quarter.

Profits rose 1.3% to $4.1bn in the three months to July from the same period last year, where analysts had expected slightly more.

Same-store sales at Wal-Mart fell 0.3%.

British subsidiary Asda saw like-for-like sales slow in its second quarter and said consumers remained under pressure.

Wal-Mart’s shares fell 2.6% in early trading in New York.

The retailer revised down its sales expectations for the full year.

It now expects net sales to grow between 2% and 3% in 2013, compared to a previous range of 5% to 6%.

Mike Duke, Wal-Mart’s president and chief executive officer, said the retail environment had been challenging across all of the firm’s markets.

“I’m encouraged by our position to execute in the second half of the year, particularly with the steps we’re taking to improve performance,” he said.

Asda, the UK’s second-biggest supermarket, reported like-for-like sales, excluding fuel and VAT, rose 0.7%, down from 1.3% in the first three months of the year.

Asda’s chief executive Andy Clarke said he was pleased with the result.

“We continued to grow our sales while also investing in holding down the price of essentials,” he said.

Asda’s figures excluded most of July, when UK retail sales rose at their fastest annual rate in over two years. If you searching for a online business opportunities then check out this site.

Research Chemicals – Exploiting Peptide Nanostructures To Construct Functional Artificial Ion Channels

Research chemicals – Natural ion channel proteins possess remarkable properties that researchers could exploit to develop nanochemotherapeutics and diagnostic devices. Unfortunately, the poor stability, limited availability, and complexity of these structures have precluded their use in practical devices. One solution to these limitations is to develop simpler molecular systems through chemical synthesis that mimic the salient properties of artificial ion channels.

Inspired by natural channel proteins, our group has developed a family of peptide nanostructures thatcreate channels for ions by aligning crown ethers on top of each other when they adopt an α-helical conformation. Advantages to this crown ether/peptide framework approach include the ease of synthesis, the predictability of their conformations, and the ability to fine-tune and engineer their properties.

We have synthesized these structures using solid phase methods from artificial crown ether amino acids made from L-DOPA. Circular dichroism and FTIR spectroscopy studies in different media confirmed that the nanostructures adopt the predicted α-helical conformation. Fluorescence studies verified the crown ether stacking arrangement.

We confirmed the channel activity by single-channel measurements using a modified patch-clamp technique, planar lipid bilayer (PLB) assays, and various vesicle experiments. From the results, we estimate that a 6 Å distance between two relays is ideal for sodium cation transport, but relatively efficient ion transport can still occur with an 11 Å distance between two crown ethers. Biophysical studies demonstrated that peptide channels operate as monomers in an equilibrium between adsorption at the surface and an active, transmembrane orientation.

Toward practical applications of these systems, we have prepared channel analogs that bear a biotin moiety, and we have used them as nanotransducers successfully to detect avidin. Analogs of channel peptide nanostructures showed cytotoxicity against breast and leukemia cancer cells.

Overall, we have prepared well-defined nanostructures with designed properties, demonstrated their transport abilities, and described their mechanism of action. We have also illustrated the advantages and the versatility of polypeptides for the construction of functional nanoscale artificial ion channels.
