-- Statement of the WPRM (Europe) on the G8 Summit in Evian --
This world does not belong to the predators who are meeting to plan more war and oppression:

THE FUTURE IS OURS IF WE DARE TO FIGHT FOR IT!

Guarded by thousands of police and surrounded by tens of thousands who oppose them, the leaders of the so-called G8 countries will be meeting in Evian. They claim that it is their right and duty to determine the future for the world and its people. They claim that there is no other future then one in which freedom means they are "free" to exploit and oppress the great majority of people all around the world, and the world's peoples are "free" to be their victims. Even while they do all they can to conceal their real aims and their rivalry with smiles and handshakes, all the talk of their "free press" and other PR-experts cannot change the fact that we are witness to nothing less than a gathering of international gangsters who are openly and crudely planning to dominate the globe and to enforce their domination through naked wars of aggression.
The rulers of the USA have demanded that they alone among the big powers will determine how this future is to be shaped and the others will either accept the place assigned to them or "face punishment". In the view of the US-rulers the collapse of the former Soviet Union has created a unique opportunity for US world hegemony: a future in which US capital has unlimited opportunities to squeeze profit from the labour of the world's people and to squeeze out its capitalist/imperialist rivals. Thus it is not surprising that many of the other big powers, led by France, Russia and Germany are calling for a "multi-polar" world order in which their "right" to a "fair share" of the spoils is recognised. Their "multilateral" imperialism is behind their calls for a "vital" role for international institutions like the UN, World Bank, IWF, etc. When they speak of "international law" they mean a structure of relations that will give them some voice in the decisions the US-rulers want to take alone. This - along with the massive opposition to the war in the streets - is the reason they refused to give their OK when the US launched its war against Iraq. But is anything more revealing of the fact that their opposition to this aggression was for their own imperialist interests then the shameless congratulations they gave the US on its "victory" and their current demands for their share of the plunder?!
Even as the headlines are now full of stories about the "controversies" surrounding which countries and companies will be granted the contracts to re-build (i.e. further rape) Iraq, the occupiers continue to refuse to provide the people of Iraq with the basic necessities of life: food, clean water, electric power, medical services, etc.! Thousands continue to die while they callously squabble over the booty. At the same time the US-rulers are stepping up their threats against Syria, Iran, North Korea and any other country that does not bow down to their demands. The Palestinian people are being told to accept the permanent domination of their land by the Zionist invaders and occupiers - the "road-map" - or face the prospect of never ending destruction at the hands of the Zionists or even direct US-attack. The very concept of national sovereignty and self-determination for the oppressed peoples and countries of the 3rd World has for all practical purposes been abolished. In the imperialist metropoles the "war against terror" and the "necessities of globalisation" are being used to justify the increasing implementation of police-state measures and drastic cuts in social services and living standards for large sections of the population. All of this is happening in the context of a profit system which is forcing half the world's people to survive on less than $2 a day, in which global warming, nuclear energy and weapons and other environmental damage are threatening the very ecosystem on which all life depends, and where war has been declared a "permanent" part of the future of the humanity.
This is a future we cannot and will not accept!
To the shock and awe of the ruling classes millions around the world stood up in a movement against the US-led war of aggression against Iraq. Many in Iraq fought heroically against the invasion and occupation of their country. While this movement did not succeed in stopping the war from happening it was unprecedented in its size and scope and the speed with which it developed. And it laid a solid foundation for building the struggle ahead and taking it to a higher level. The resistance in Iraq itself and around the world to the occupation is continuing and growing. In Palestine, Afghanistan and other countries and regions all around the world people are daily confronting and resisting the imperialists and their system: including armed resistance. All this gives lie to the claim of the rulers that no one can defy them and the nightmare they call the future. One of the most important fronts of struggle at the present time is in Nepal where the Peoples War being led by the Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist) [CPN (M)] has succeeded in liberating large sections of the countryside and already millions of people are taking part in reorganising society in a completely different way: one in which the capitalists' god of profit does not determine how people live and work together. All of these struggles around the world are living proof that the world's peoples are more than capable of forging a very different future from the one the imperialists are planning for us. A future in which they and their system will have no place at all!!
The rulers claim to be invincible, but the viscous repression they carry out shows how much they actually fear the people. To justify their increasing repression they have taken to branding almost every kind of struggle against their rule, and especially armed struggles, as terrorism. In the past few weeks the US government officially listed the CPN (M) as a terrorist organisation. This is part of the overall plans of the US and other reactionary powers to intervene in the civil war in Nepal and save their local war-lord: the current king and the feudal regime he is leading. The occupation of Iraq, the intervention in Nepal and all the other imperialist aggression and domination that is going on around the world must be opposed and defeated. All the struggles of the people aimed at the common enemy must be supported. Only by building a world-wide movement based on this truly internationalist point of view we will be able to achieve the future for which we are all striving. The WPRM is dedicated to doing just that and joins with all others who share this aim.

People of the world, unite to defeat the US-led occupation of Iraq!
Stop all complicity by European governments and others!
US, UK and all other Imperialists: keep your bloody boots off the peoples of Syria, Iran & the whole Middle East!
People's Liberation is Not "Terrorism", Imperialists and Reactionaries - Hands Off Nepal!
