BRIEF REPORT ON 13TH FEB. MASS-MEETING AND RALLY

In order to mobilise the people, and resist, oppose and condemn the imperialist war and intervention, particularly US war on Iraq, imperialist intervention on Nepal and Indian state repression on the people; a MASS-MEETING AND RALLY was successfully organized by PROVISIONAL ORGANIZING COMMITTEE, WORLD PEOPLE'S RESISTANCE MOVEMENT, SOUTH ASIA on 13th Feb. 2003 in Delhi (India) at Ramleela Ground, New Delhi.

The Meeting was chaired by Com. Ravunni, Member of POC, and conducted by Com. Sadanand . On the occasion, Com. Muneer, Com. Tara Singh, and Com. Narayan Dutta of POC, Com. Laxman Pant of Nepalese People's Rights Protection Committee, India, Com. Bijaya of S.F.P.R., Com. Jagdish of Jana Pratirodh Manch, Com. Anjani Kumar of A.I.P.R.F., Com. Sudhir Kumar of Inqalabi Majdoor Manch, Com. Muktiyar Kaur of Nari Sangram Manch, Punjab, Com. Dr. Aparna of I.F.T.U., Com. Mahendra Singh of A.I.F.T.U., Com. Madanmohan of Lok Sanskritik Manch,Uttarakhand and Com. Mukesh of P.M.T.V. spoke.

Nepalese People's Rights Protection Committee, Dakhal Sanskritik Manch, Delhi and  All India Nepalese Students' Association presented songs in the Meeting. Thousands of people had attended the Rally.

When the Committee was to take out a procession from the Ground to the Nepalese embassy after the Rally was over, the police most inhumanly locked all gates and closed the masses inside. The masses started protesting strongly and chanting slogans. Then they allowed a delegation to go to the embassies. Thenafter, a 5-member delegation went to the Nepalese Embassy at Barhakhamba Road and US Embassy at Chanakyapuri and submitted LETTERS OF PROTEST there.

                                              MINUTES  OF FIRST INFORMAL  MEETING

          In order to accomplish and make division of various works to  successfully hold the MASS-MEETING AND RALLY on         13 Feb.2003 in protest to the US war on Iraq, imperialist intervention on Nepal and Indian state repression, an INFORMAL MEETING was held on 4th Feb. 2003 which took the following decisions :

           1.  The MASS-MEETING shall be presided over by Com. Ravunni, Member of POC, and conduct4ed by Com Sadanand in 

                       which Com. Tara Singh, Member of POC,  shall be Chief Speaker and Com. Lokraj Mehraj, Member of POC, shall deliver  

                       the Welcome Address.

          2.   Considering shortage of time, the poster for shall not be printed, only leaflets shall be printed and distributed in a large   

                scale.

          3.   For the participants coming from out of Delhi, the badges shall be made the format for which will be as follows :

                                              JOIN THE ANTI-IMPERIALIST MASS-MEETING AND RALLY

                                                          ON   13 FEBRUARY 2003  !

               4.  A  Press Release shall be released.

               5.  Volunteer Group shall be formed to help in conducting the programme in a disciplined way.

               6.  Content of Invitation Letter was prepared.

               7. A procession shall be taken out from Ramleela Ground to the Nepalese embassy.

                  8.  Protest Letters shall be submitted to the US and Nepalese embassies on the occasion.

The Meeting was attended by Convenor Com. Muneer and Member Com. Tara Singh with other comrades.

                             MINUTES  OF SECOND INFORMAL (REVIEW) MEETING

   SECOND INFORMAL MEETING was held on 14th Feb. 2003 in order to review the MASS-MEETING AND RALLY of 13th Feb.

1.        The Meeting reached the conclusion that the Programme was a success ultimately, even if not a grand one. It was  

      realised that there were lack of time and adequate planning for preparing it, and many shortcomings, particularly    

      regarding the management.

2.        The Meeting also thoroughly discussed  the expenditures made in organizing the MASS-MEETING AND RALLY and 

settled them.

The Meeting has learnt lessons and experiences from the Programme of 13th Feb. for the future in organizing such programmes.

 Com. Muneer, Convenor, and  Com. Ravunni and Com. Tara Singh, Members of POC, had attended the Meeting with other comrades who made significant contributions in preparing and organizing the MASS-MEETING AND RALLY.
