INTERVIEW
THE
US IMPERIALISM ITSELF IS THE PRINCIPAL SOURCE OR PLACE OF ORIGIN OF THE
TERRORISM.
Could
you please tell us something briefly about WORLD PEOPLE'S RESISTANCE MOVEMENT,
SOUTH ASIA which is recently established?
The
world was divided into two camps before the dissolution of the then Soviet Union
— the imperialist camp led by the
United States of America and social
imperialist camp led by the Soviet
Union. In spite of the fact that both of them were ardent enemies of each other,
there was never any direct war between them. It so happened that they were
scared of each other and this kind of situation led eventually to 'cold war'
only. But in course of time, the revisionism turned into social imperialism
collapsed completely and, as a result, Soviet Union dissolved.
After that, there remained only the US
imperialism in the world which turned uncontrolled and began kicking everybody
it saw in the front like a bull without chain. At present, the US imperialism
has been the 'only linchpin' of the world and is invading it everywhere as if
it's its own property. Particularly, ever since the attack on some key points on
11th Sep. 2001 in the US, the American rulers have turned completely
crazy.
After that attack, the US imperialism has
declared war against all countries and people of the world on the pretext of
`war against terrorism' and deployed genocidal arms everywhere in order to
maintain its hegemony in the world. Sometimes it fiercely attacks on Afghanistan
on the pretext of Taliban and forms its lackey and puppet regime, and sometimes
backs up its lapdog Israel in the middle-East and pounces on the justice and
freedom-loving brave Palestine people. The US imperialism, the No. 1 enemy of
the people of the world, is now all set against Iraq and is ready to strike on
it labelling myriad of false charges.
Therefore, it has been quite necessary to
strongly resist such a
fierce imperialism and given that no single country can resist it alone,
it is also necessary to resist it unitedly by all. Hence, in order to fulfil
this need, WORLD PEOPLE'S RESISTANCE MOVEMENT, SOUTH ASIA has been established.
.
In this context, a Convention of delegates and
observers of anti-imperialist forces of South Asian countries- India, Nepal,
Bangladesh and Sri Lanka- had been held on 2nd, 3rd and 4th
October 2002 and the same Convention had established the organization. On that
occasion, a Provisional Organizing Committee of the organization had also been
formed.
What
are the aims and objectives of this organization and what kind of organization
is this?
WORLD PEOPLE'S RESISTANCE MOVEMENT, SOUTH ASIA is an international
mass-organization of political nature. In it, both the individual and
organization can be the Member.
To strongly resist the imperialism by uniting the people of the whole
world and extensively mobilizing and leading them, to support all armed
struggles including the People's Wars being waged and just struggles all over
the world etc. are major aims and objectives of this organization. It shall
transform all struggles being waged the world over into a mighty hurricane and
turn to be a means of facilitating and promoting the worldwide unity against the
common enemy. In addition, WPRM, SA shall oppose all anti-people tendencies
including feudal exploitation, communalism, chauvinism, religious fanaticism.
What is the reason behind the stress of the Movement on US imperialism ?
The reason is that
the imperialism has turned these
days extremely aggressive and, at present, the No. 1 enemy of oppressed
countries and people of the world is none but this imperialism. Another
significant point in this regard is that it is the common issue of the
capitalist or developed countries and undeveloped countries or Third World
countries. This is another reason why this organization has laid so much
emphasis on resisting imperialism. Also, this is why the revolutionaries of the
world have regarded the contradiction between imperialism and oppressed
countries and people as the principal international contradiction of today.
Many
other anti-imperialist organizations prevail in the world. But still you have
established one more. Why?
You
are right. As the US imperialism has already entered into the South Asia politically,
economically, culturally, militarily; many anti-imperialist organizations have
been formed in this region and they are functioning, too. But as the imperialism
has been emerging actively in a worldwide way, there does not exist any
anti-imperialist organization of worldwide nature. Whichever and whatever
organizations there are, they are confined to a single country or even if they
are international, they are confined to economic or cultural field alone. In
other words, it is obvious that all these organizations do not suffice now. The
web of the imperialism has expanded in such a way that it emerged necessary to
make similar networking in opposition to it.
Therefore, a
separate international anti-imperialist organization has been formed in order to
resist worldwide imperialism following the need felt for an organization on a
worldwide scale.
But your organization also is not a worldwide one. It rather looks only a South Asian level ! You are again very right. No doubt, our organization is only a South Asian level. But we would like to inform you that similar kind of organization has been already formed in Europe. In other words, WORLD PEOPLE'S RESISTANCE MOVEMENT, EUROPE has been established and it has successfully accomplished many major programmes so far. Now gradually initiatives are underway to form similar organization in Latin America, too..
If so, what kind of relations would you maintain with other anti-imperialist organizations ?
We
shall maintain fraternal and friendly relations with all other anti-imperialist
organizations, whether they are national or international. We shall invite them
liberally and with an open and broad heart to participate in our programmes, and
shall do so with full force and enthusiasm in theirs, too, if invited.
Moreover,
we would like to make it clear that our organization does not seek to supplant
or compete with any other anti-imperialist organization, whether of a national
or international level. Instead, it shall always remain effortful to render a
new height to the anti-imperialist struggle by exchanging co-operations with
them all.
Would you please tell us something about recent
imperialist aggression and interference in South Asia and the activities being
carried out in protest to ?
Perhaps
there remains hardly any country in the whole world untouched by the imperialist
aggression and interference. The US imperialism had imposed a war virtually on
the Afghan people on the pretext of religious fanatic Talibans in Afghanistan.
After the Talibans ran away from there, it formed its puppet and lackey
government headed by Hamid Karzai. Now the US imperialism has basically
targetted the Palestinian and Iraqi people and
pounced upon them.
However, the US imperialism has penetrated its bloody and satanic thaws
in South Asia with ¼ population of the world. It's been maintaining partnership
with the Indian ruling classes in order to continue its hegemony. In this
context, it has offered economic and military aids to the
autocratic-feudal-monarchial regime of Nepal and sent its military experts on
visit to various districts there with a view to fighting against the Maoists.
Similarly, it has been conducting military training programmes in Bangladesh on
the pretext of peacekeeping forces and eyeing significant places including
Trincomali port in Sri Lanka. In India, it has already set up a branch of the
notorious intelligence agency FBI. Generally, the imperialism invades to capture
economic resources and markets but its aggression and interference in South Asia
have been for the economic and strategic reasons, too.
It is evident that South Asia has been a "stormy centre of world
revolution" today. In this region, the People's War led by Communist Party
of Nepal (Maoist) has been ongoing for the last 7 years in Nepal successfully
crossing many military and non-military hindrances, and smashing imperialist
plans and plots. The formation of Brigade level in the People's Liberation Army;
many successful military raids under the leadership of the same Army; indirect
confession of defeat by the reactionary army; ultimate conclusion of the
Nepalese reactionaries and their international masters, teachers and lords that
they can never defeat the Maoists militarily and that the Maoists will capture
the central state power in near future; the state of the Nepalese People's War
preparing to enter into strategic offensive from strategic equilibrium etc. have
turned the imperialism sleepless and restless. In the same manner, the Maoist
revolutionaries in India have been also accelerating the People's Wars
continuously and national liberation movements have been going on throughout the
country. In Bangladesh, preparation for the People's War is going on. It is
there that national organizations like "World People's Resistance Movement,
Bangladesh", "Anti-Imperialist Democratic Unity" have been formed.
In Sri Lanka also, an organization named "Anti-Imperialist Patriotic
People's Alliance" has been constituted and thereby the struggle against
imperialism has been taken to broad mass level. Probably , in South Asia, the
Maldives and Bhutan are the only countries that have been left by the US
imperialism so far. This is so because neither there has been any remarkable
people's struggles in these countries nor they are that much profitable for the
imperialists from the financial point of view.
In addition, on the one hand, the US imperialism eyed the resources,
markets and labour power of South Asia and, on the other, it considered
necessary to encircle China, though ideologically collapsed totally, from all
sides as that has been developing as a new superpower economically and
militarily in the world and moving
forward to pose a challenge to it after the downfall of Soviet Union. For these
reasons, South Asia has been like a war training camp of it.
This is why the people of South Asia need urgently to unite against the
imperialism in an extensive way and move forward. We shall strive our best to
strongly raise the struggle against imperialism in South Asia in the days to
come.
It
is found that the US has been making a great hue and cry of 'terrorism'. Indeed,
what is the 'terrorism' and who is the 'terrorist'
?
As
a matter of fact, the US imperialism itself is the biggest terrorist in the
world and none but it is itself the principal source or place of origin,
whatever you call it, of the terrorism. Whoever is terrorist or whoever it has
declared 'terrorist', all those bourgeois rulers, organizations, and individuals,
except the revolutionaries, are brought up, fed, supported and trained by the US
imperialism. All of them undoubtedly enjoyed good relations, whether directly or
indirectly, with the US imperialism at a time. But later, in course of time,
contradictions developed between them and then only, they had been ousted from
the US camp. For the same reason they had been declared as 'terrorist' by the US
imperialism: whether it is the Talibans of yore or current Osama bin Laden or
Saddam Hussain or Kaddafi. It is the very policy of the US that it declares 'terrorist'
whoever does not seek to be its puppet or lackey.
As far as the question what is 'terrorism' is concerned, it is a negative
thought or ideology which does not have any political objective and people's
base and fulfilling the absolutely personal and mean interests by using terror
on the people is the daily routine of the people who follow it.
In
what kind of countries shall such organizations be
formed ?
Such
organizations shall be formed in both the imperialist and oppressed countries
because even in the imperialist countries, the people are oppressed, only the
rulers are oppressor.
Please
tell us briefly about the programmes of World People's Resistance Movement,
South Asia ?
As it is a newly
established organization, we have not devised ambitious plans and programmes.
However, a 6-month programme for struggles has been devised for the time being.
According to it, to make public the Declaration and Political Statement of the
Movement as adopted by its Convention in many languages on 1st November (which
has been already accomplished); to do the walling and postering of the
Movement's slogans— Resist US-led imperialist war of aggression !, Support the
People's War in Nepal !, Support
the People's Wars and revolutionary struggles in India !, Support the
revolutionary struggles of the
people of Bangladesh !, Support the anti-imperialist struggles of oppressed
nations and the people of the world !, Support the struggles of oppressed
nations/nationalities !, US/India, keep away from Sri Lanka !, US ! Hands off
Iraq !, Kick out the Yankees from Afghanistan, Palestine, Iraq and rest of the
world ! Down with imperialism ! People of South Asia .......unite ! Resist US
imperialism and war !, Unite to struggle for a world without imperialism and war
!, Join and strengthen WPRM !; to send a delegation to and submit a Letter of
Protest at the US embassies in Delhi, Kathmandu, Dhaka and Colombo on 5th
Jan. 2003; to send a delegation to and submit a Letter of Protest in the
Prime Minister's office in Kathmandu and
in the Nepalese embassies in the capital cities of the rest of all three
countries on 13th February 2003; and to hold Demonstrations and Rallies in all
four capital cities on 8th April 2003 are the major ones.
Lastly,
would you like to add something more ?
Thank
you very much for giving us an opportunity to express the views of our
organization ! We resolutely support the struggles going on in various countries
in the world including Peru, the Philippines, Palestine, Turkey, and
particularly, the anti-imperialist struggles the brave people of Palestine,
Afghanistan and Iraq have been waging; and strongly oppose and condemn the
global terrorist and genocidal war led by the US imperialism. Finally, we call
upon all anti-imperialist democratic and progressive organizations, forces and
individuals in South Asia to firmly resist the US imperialism, and join and
strengthen WPRM, SA in order to create a world without hegemony, exploitation,
oppression and war.
